Adult Coloring Book Of Expressions Deepak Srinivasa Books
This book meets my needs in so many facets....I used to paint but being a software engineer with long hours does not give me the bandwidth to pursue my hobby of painting...
Was recommended of this book by a friend and got my hands on the same.
The book is just about the right size and the captions are really well written... Instructions are at the beginning. Thumbnails of how completed artworks look at the end. I looked at the index page at the end, picked one I liked and got started... Simple as that... Colour choices are taken care so you don't have to burden yourself and just start on your art...
I didn't really know much about adult colouring or how it could get me hooked.. I started and didnt realize I had forgotten everything and was totally involved in colouring...
Realized this helps you calm down and forget everything around you.. It puts you in a place where you need to concentrate but not get worked up... It's fun :-)
I started with "rage".. Was surprised with the end result... I turned out to be a pop artist.. :-)
I use the Faber-Castell Design Series Aquarelle Full Length Water Color Pencils and the results are good... I still need to hone my skills to get the art better... I took approximately 2 hours to complete one artwork and it was time well spent and relaxed too...
I have started on my next art and its going well.. So far so good...
Looking forward to more books by the author...

Adult Coloring Book Of Expressions Deepak Srinivasa Books Reviews
This was a great book that not only brings you back to your roots and allows you to simply sit back, reflect and have a ton of fun and create some amazing pictures too. I loved the beautiful pictures and loved that they used real people in the creation of the very unique images that you see in this book. Talk about an unique book!
Got introduced to this book by my colleague, initially i was skeptical about coloring books for adults.
But once you get started on it, it becomes an addictive and immersive experience. Provides a creative outlet and brought back fond memories of childhood art classes.
The first thing I have to say about this coloring book is that it is quite different than other coloring books that I have. Not saying that this is a good or bad thing, just saying that it is different from my normal.
How is it different from my normal?
Well, first of all this is a color by number coloring book. I have seen many different coloring books that use this technique, but I have yet to purchase one for myself and until now I had not received one in exchange for a review either. So this is pretty new territory for me.
The next way it is different is that it is a book entirely of faces/people...or I guess I should say of expressions. It isn't filled up with doodles of flowers, animals, squiggly lines or anything like that. It is just people and expressions like happiness, melancholy, and boredom.
Then, finally, and probably the most important way it is different, is that it features pop art coloring. It tells you to use bold colors and where to put which ones to let you achieve artwork like that of a pop artist!
All in all, I like this coloring book. It achieves its goal - it helps you relax and unwind while letting you explore your creative side for a bit. But that does not mean it is without its problems.
The first thing I noticed upon picking up the coloring book is that the pages are thin are are not of the best quality. You would not want to use markers when coloring in the pictures. However, if you read the information at the beginning of the book you will discover that it tells you to use colored pencils for this book - which this paper will work just fine for.
The next thing is that each picture in the book tells you to use the same colors. You will use varying amounts of any given color between the pictures, but you will use the same ones. Over and over and over again. I personally need more variety in my life. I am already giving up some creative freedom by allowing myself to color the pictures by number, but then it is asking me to give up even more by keeping all of the colors the same throughout the book.
And finally, while I like people and I like variety in my coloring pages and books....the images for me to color within this book just aren't really my thing. Obviously this is very much just a personal opinion. Others may find themselves very much enjoying these images. They definitely do give you range of sizes in the space that they give you to color, so at least they aren't going to be simple and super quick. Also, there are images of them towards the back of the book showing you what they should look like when completed.
This particular coloring book definitely gives me something outside my norm and will allow me to grow as a colorist.
My Rating
3 Stars
This review is based on a copy provided by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The book is amazing. Loved it! It has portraits. The paper quality is good. Kept me engaged and apt for adults. After coloring the first portrait, i wanted to frame it, it came out so well. It is a good stress buster, definitely i would suggest this book.
This is a nice book. However it is not what I expected. I own numerous coloring books and I thought that this was one also. It is helpful and interesting but not a true coloring book.
